It's Time To Feel Better!

Congratulations on making the decision to deal with what's been difficult, and your courage to move towards creating change.
Sometimes the pressures of life, managing your mood and anxiety, relationship difficulties, and workplace stress and burnout become too much to manage and cope with on your own.
As a therapist, I pride myself on creating a safe and collaborative environment where you can open up, share your thoughts and vulnerabilities freely, and move towards healing and feeling better.
I help professional men and women, and adolescents to feel better, move towards healing, and create positive changes in their lives.

Feel Better At An Accelerated Rate...

While there are numerous types of psychotherapy you can participate in, and while I use many of these treatment approaches in my work with clients...

What if I told you I specialize in a therapy that could help you to feel better at an accelerated rate?

Let me tell you about EMDR...

EMDR therapy is a fast-working, scientifically proven psychotherapy recommended by the American Psychological Association, the American Psychiatric Association, and the World Health Organization for treatment trauma. It also works for other concerns like anxiety (including performance anxiety), depression, stress, PTSD, addictions, and getting "unstuck" in relationships and life.

EMDR has been proven to work where other therapeutic approaches have failed.

And wouldn't it be great to feel better in weeks or months, instead of it taking years?

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Counselling Therapy Confidential?

As a Registered Social Worker (MSW, RSW), I adhere to the standards of practice set out by the Alberta College of Social Workers.  Included is a strict adherence to confidentiality, although there are some circumstances in which confidentiality is limited.  These will be discussed in the first appointment to ensure your full understanding.

How Long Is A Counselling Therapy Session?

Counselling therapy sessions are 50 minutes in length, leaving 10 minutes for future appointments to be booked and payment processing to occur.

How Long Will Counselling Therapy Take?

It depends on the person and the issues that brought them to seek professional help. While I'd love to tell you the exact number of sessions you'll need, it simply doesn't work that way ;)

If EMDR is the right treatment for you, it typically provides relief and results at an accelerated rate.

What Does Counselling Therapy Look Like?

In our first appointment we'll first take care of the boring stuff (ethical talk and necessary paperwork).  Don't worry, this will only take a few minutes.  Then, once you get settled in I'll ask you to share your story (i.e. what brings you to meet with me).

At the end of the first appointment, I'll provide a high-level overview of what I'm hearing and how we might tackle your current life challenges together.  Yes, "we" because therapy is a collaborative process.  While I have the professional expertise to assist you in developing the skills and insights needed for your particular issue, you are the expert on you.

As a trained professional, I will use a variety of therapeutic approaches in my work with you.  Each person is unique and so the approach used it also unique to you.  There are no cookie cutter approaches!

Counselling Therapy could involve the use EMDR, CBT, DBT, solution-focused, strengths-based, narrative, attachment-based theory, and mindfulness practices in our work.

Most importantly, we will build a trusting and honest relationship with one another.  You will be listened to and provided with a confidential and safe place where you can open up and be vulnerable while discussing your current challenges.  I will ask you key questions to help you think on a deeper level, but only when I think you are ready to tackle things.

I know counselling therapy can seem scary, and it is the first time you go (I know from first hand experience).  However, when you have the "right fit" with a therapist, the effects of counselling therapy are significant! In fact, research tells us that the therapeutic relationship you have with your therapist is more important than any other factor in counselling therapy.

What Are Your Fees?

Fees for service are $180/session for counselling therapy. This may be covered in whole or in part by your employer benefits, when you submit your receipt for service.

Direct billing is available for Alberta Blue Cross.

It is up to the client to know if your insurance plans covers therapists who are a "Registered Masters Level Social Worker".  Typically, Alberta Blue Cross, Great West Life, and Sun Life do so.  Please be sure to check.
  • Payment will be taken at the end of each session.
  • A receipt will be provided that you can submit and claim with your benefits provider for reimbursement or to use as a tax deductible for income tax purposes.
  • Direct billing is available for Alberta Blue Cross.

What Is Your Cancellation Policy?

If for some reason you can no longer attend your appointment, please provide 24 hours notice.

Please note, a full session fee is charged when an appointment is missed or less than 24 hours cancellation notice is provided.

How Do I Book An Appointment?

To book your first counselling therapy appointment, please call (587) 337-5220 or email and you will be provided with a complimentary phone consultation where we can determine if we are a good fit.  In the event I cannot address your particular concern, I will refer you to a colleague in the community.

For your convenience, at the end of your first appointment you will receive an email with my direct scheduling link so you can easily book future appointments.
